CPI TMD Technologies understand microwave tubes.

CPI TMD has been immersed in the research, design and manufacture of electron devices since its inception, delivering solutions into some of the most demanding applications to support its customers’ requirements.

CPI TMD's tube engineering "DNA" extends back to EMI Electronics' high-power klystron developments during World War II. Since then, CPI TMD has been instrumental in many of the industry's major TWT, magnetron and klystron developments.

CPI TMD designs and builds high-reliability microwave tubes for radar, electronic warfare and communications applications. In particular CPI TMD specializes in ring bar and ring loop TWTs from 1 to 18 GHz with the following features:
  • High reliability dispenser cathode technology (up to 90,000 hours operation achieved for an S-band air traffic control (ATC) radar)
  • European “Center of Excellence” for cathode and electron gun design
  • In-house cathode technology, minimizing reliance on ITAR- controlled parts
  • Fast warm up (under three seconds) versions available in Ku- band
  • Emission testing and surface analysis facilities in-house
  • Air, land and sea platforms supported
CPI TMD also designs and manufactures fixed frequency, agile and tunable magnetrons in L-band, C-band, X-band and Ku-band.
