Extended Interaction Klystrons (EIKs)
Welcome to CPI CMP’s communications klystron product page. Here you will find listings of performance by model number with sort capability to help you select the appropriate klystron. If you do not see a klystron that meets your requirement, please contact CPI CMP customer support or email us at .
CPI CMP designs and manufactures an extensive range of medium-power CW klystrons in Ontario, Canada. This family of klystrons is air cooled, with permanent magnets, and provides CW output power up to 3.5 kW. Operating frequency ranges are within the S-Band, C-Band, X-Band and Ku-Band. For Ka-Band and higher frequencies please see the extended interaction klystron (EIK) section.
These products were originally designed for use in CW communications systems operating in the standard satcom and troposcatter frequency ranges, including the various extended bands, and are now finding new applications where excellent value (watts/dollar) is important. CPI CMP can configure existing, or develop new, devices for applications where there are no current products. Please contact CPI CMP for details.
CPI CMP was the first company to develop energy-saving Multi-Stage Depressed Collector (MSDC) klystrons, and CPI CMP offers this advantage on klystrons in most frequency ranges. Klystrons are also available with the original "classic" single collector.
All of these klystrons are also available with CPI CMP's remotely-tunable Digital Fast Tuning System (DFTS), which allows fast, accurate, automated channel changing: ideal for systems where a single redundant amplifier backs-up multiple primary transmitters.
FELIX is an application that provides CPI customers with a user-friendly interface to fully configure, test and save the configuration of their DFTS controller. For customers with Microsoft Windows 2000 or Microsoft Windows XP operating systems, CPI CMP offers FELIX Software for DFTS D99 and FELIX Software for DFTS D50. (Please note, the DFTS D99 tuner has now superseded the DFTS D50 tuner.)
