Test Range Support

Position Overview

Working with Test Range Riggers and Test Technicians, the Junior Rigger will be required to perform all necessary antenna range rigging and mounting activities.

Essential Job Function
  • Rig and mount prototype and/or production antennas for testing
  • Perform antenna adjustments such as L-Band and ESA sub-reflector adjustment while the antenna is mounted on the tower
  • Support Range Test Technician and other Rigger during the development and production measurements.
  • Maintain range equipment and work area
  • Test rigging to ensure safety and reliability.
  • Attach loads to rigging to provide support or prepare them for moving, using hand and power tools.
  • Select gear such as cables, pulleys, and winches, according to load weights and sizes, facilities, and work schedules.
  • Control movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces, using chainfalls, gin poles, gallows frames, and other equipment.
  • Tilt, dip, and turn suspended loads to maneuver over, under, and/or around obstacles, using multi-point suspension techniques.
  • Align, level, and anchor machinery.
  • Fabricate, set up, and repair rigging, supporting structures, hoists, and pulling gear, using hand and power tools.
  • Manipulate rigging lines, hoists, and pulling gear to move or support materials such as heavy equipment, ships, or theatrical sets.
  • Clean and dress machine surfaces and component parts.
  • Attach pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms, using bolts and clamps.
  • Dismantle and store rigging equipment after use.
  • Expected to work on weekends as required.

  • Able to take directions from the other Rigger and Range Test Technician

Job Requirements
  • Completion of Secondary School diploma or equivalent work experience.
  • One year experience in climbing/rigging
  • Ability to work comfortably at heights
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Familiarity with various testing techniques would be an asset.

Work Conditions
  • Working outdoors
  • Weather changes may disturb the workweek
  • May be required to work overtime when necessary
