Position Overview

The Mechanical EIT will possess a strong background in finite element analysis (ANSYS preferred), autoCAD and solid modelling (Solidworks preferred). Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering, as well as 2-5 years’ related experience in mechanical/structural design. Good communication skills and the ability to function competently in both theoretical and practical work environments are crucial.

Essential Job Function
  • Prepare drawings and solid models for prototype designs or design modifications suitable for converting to production drawings
  • Create finite element models of new or existing designs for use in stress analysis
  • Generate structural analysis reports for new designs or design modifications
  • Oversee fabrication of prototype parts and/or components for test, manufactured in the model shop
  • Assemble and/or assist with the assembly of parts for first article verification and testing
  • Evaluate mechanical performance of designs using predetermined parameters
  • Provide on-site installation guidance of production antennas or warranty based design modifications
  • Assist antenna test range technicians providing mechanical engineering support as required

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering required
  • 2-5 years’ related experience in design. Fabrication experience including machining and welding processes is desirable
  • Working experience in the manufacturing industry preferred
  • Possess the following personal qualities: self-motivation, integrity, creativity, high standards, commitment, ethical values and achievement oriented
  • Understanding of the industry and area of service
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons or facts
  • Ability to follow through and complete overlapping projects

External Contacts – 25%

Contacts require obtaining and providing information to material suppliers and fabricators for purposes of procuring non-inventory components.

Internal Contacts – 75%

Contacts are primarily supporting production personnel including buyers, planners and manufacturing engineers in the development of production components.

Physical Demands

Work requires minimal physical effort most of the time, but may require periods of moderate effort such as lifting or climbing.
