Manufacturing General Labourer

Spin Lathe

Position Overview

Assisting primarily in the Spin Lathe department, the Manufacturing General Labourer will be required to perform tasks including physical labour, and operate a variety of hand and power tools. They will be assisting in the assembly of various components involved in complex antenna systems using bolts, screws, clips, soldering tools and assorted fasteners.

Essential Job Functions
  • Read electrical schematics, blueprints and other technical drawings
  • Bolt, screw, clip, weld, solder or otherwise fasten parts and components
  • Use of hand and power tools such as soldering gun, drills and precision measuring equipment
  • Assemble and attach hardware such as caps, clamps, knobs and switches to assemblies
  • Grind, scrape, sand or polish surfaces using abrasive tools or machines
  • Complete required job control, inventory and related reports (example: timecards)
  • Clean and perform preparation of worksite
  • Maintain assigned work area and equipment in a safe and professional manner
  • Maintain and adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • Perform all duties in accordance with health and safety safe work requirements
  • Any other related duties as assigned


Job Requirements
  • Completion of Secondary School diploma or equivalent work experience
  • 1-3 years’ experience in a general labour role, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to understand blueprints and other technical drawings
  • Excellent time management and project management skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of electronic components an asset
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking ability
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Ability to work in isolation or a team
  • Willingness to extend knowledge and ability in the role

Work Conditions
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required
  • Bending, kneeling and climbing occasionally required
  • Manual lifting of various weighted products is required
  • Use of personal protective equipment will be required
  • Overtime work may be required
